Sweet potato vine ipomoea sweet caroline sweetheart purple has deep purple black heart shaped foliage. Sweet potato vine ipomoea batatas an ornamental vine quickly spills over the sides of hanging baskets and patio containers. The black version of the solarpower is a purple sweet potato vine and is deep purplish black in hue. Sweet caroline sweetheart purple works great in large containers and landscapes.

Clean dark heart shaped foliage was blemish free and was a great contrast to lighter colours. These plants are available in greens reds and deep purples in both. The plant list for this project includes sweet caroline sweetheart lime sweet potato vine along with a mix of superbells calibrachoa supertunia petunias african daisies purslane verbena and other flowering annuals. A rich lime green variant is available as is a rusty bronze.

Commercial sweet potatoes have been bred for over 100 years selecting for those with the best sugar to starch content hence the name sweet potato the ornamental have been bred to produce good leaves and no tubers though they do form they are composed of almost pure starch and no sugar.
